Oklahoma State University Spears School of Business will be offering several upcoming professional development programs for tribal finance and accounting leaders as well as those in executive and leadership positions, tribal board members, etc. who wish to learn more about tribal finance and accounting.

VIRTUAL Tribal Finance and Accounting Conference
8:30 a.m.-12:15 p.m. Earn 4 hours of CPE credit
Fee $60 per person or $50 for 3 or more people enrolled from the same organization

OSU Intermediate Tribal Finance and Accounting Virtual Certificate Program is a four-week virtual program from Oct. 22 – Nov. 19. This program is designed for mid-level employees in tribal financial positions and participants can earn up to 28 hours of CPE credit.

- Cash Flow Pro Forma Statement
- Developing a Toolkit to Help Financial Leaders Educate and/or Teach Non-Financial Leaders
- Ethics
- Fair Value Accounting of Investments
- Financial Statement and Interpreting Data
- Fraud Prevention and Detection
- Internal Controls--Managing and Budgeting of Tax Revenues
- Introduction to Tribal Investments and Treasury Management
- Presenting Financial Data
- Principles and Standards—Tribal Governmental Accounting
- Process Improvements for the Financial and Accounting Department

The registration fee is $1,500.
Presenters in the program include experts who deal with finance and accounting in the tribes and are from the organizations of Baker Tilly Virchow Krause, Moss Adams, Native American Finance Officers Association, REDW, and OSU Spears School of Business. A project is also an option which could be completed to help a tribe in their accounting and finance area.
January - March 2021
OSU Online Introductory Tribal Finance and Accounting Certificate Program is an eight-week online program from Jan. 11 – March 5. This program is geared toward entry-level employees and professionals who wish to gain knowledge regarding tribal finance and accounting.

- Overview of Government Accounting

- Schedule of Expenditures of Federal Awards (SEFA)
The registration fee is $2,000.
There will be over 25 hours of CPE credit offered (pending approval from NASBA). Presenters in the program include experts who deal with finance and accounting in the tribes and are from the organizations of Baker & Tilley, BKD, Finley & Cook, REDW, and law firms Dorsey & Whitney LLP and Sheppard Mullin, and OSU Spears School of Business faculty.
The OSU Introductory Tribal Finance and Accounting Program has also been noted as a winner of the 2019 University Professional and Continuing Education Association (UPCEA) Central Region Outstanding Noncredit Program Award, the 2020 UPCEA National Outstanding Noncredit Program Award, and the 2019 Conference on Management and Executive Development (CMED) Peer Choice Best Custom Program Award.
