The Northern Edge Navajo Casino will celebrate its 14th anniversary Jan. 16 with a daylong slate of promotions, giveaways and cash drawings, according to the Navajo Nation Gaming Enterprise.
The casino, Navajo Gaming’s third property, is marking the milestone with a monthlong celebration that includes cash and prize giveaways for guests and community members who have supported the property since it opened in 2012.
On Jan. 16, the casino will offer food, beverage and entertainment specials throughout the day. From noon to 8:10 p.m., qualified guests will receive an anniversary T-shirt while supplies last and can participate in a 14th Anniversary Kiosk Game for chances to win free play, points or food vouchers. Cash drawings will follow at 8:15 p.m., when 14 winners will each receive $1,400. Winners must be present to claim prizes.
Northern Edge Navajo Casino opened Jan. 16, 2012, in the Upper Fruitland Chapter near Farmington, in the Four Corners region between Mount Blanca, Mount Taylor, Mount Hesperus and the San Francisco Peaks. The property features multiple dining options, including the recently refurbished Cedar Bow Restaurant, as well as slot machines, table games, a poker room and live entertainment on weekends. The casino’s architecture and artwork incorporate traditional Navajo symbolism and design.
Over the past 14 years, the casino has grown to nearly 300 employees, about 86% of whom are Navajo. The property sponsors and supports numerous community and cultural events and provides business to Navajo and community vendors, including local farmers, Navajo Beef ranchers, artisans and musicians. It was also the first Navajo casino to offer Navajo Ten tournaments, a popular card game within the Navajo Nation similar to rummy.
A live performance by DJ E.S.S. is scheduled from 8 p.m. to midnight. The event is free and open to guests 21 and older.
The casino is located at 2752 Indian Service Road 36 in Farmington.
