Cultivating Culture: Indigenous Food Sovereignty and Language Project is an open table—set for Indigenous voices to share how food fuels tribal sovereignty across North America.

Everyone is welcome: Native American farmers, ranchers, land and water protectors, foragers, chefs, bakers, baristas, artists, seed keepers, and storytellers. We want to hear how you’re feeding your communities—body, spirit, and future.

How will we tell these stories? That’s up to the community. Storytelling will follow a farm-to-table path, rooted in Indigeneity at every step—from seed to harvest, kitchen to plate, and voice to story. We'll explore how language and traditional knowledge rise up through food systems, and how asking for a second helping can be an act of cultural preservation and resistance.

Take a seat. Stay a while. Share what you can. The coffee and chiles are always hot at Cultivating Culture.

This new project from Native News Online is made possible by the generous support of the MacArthur Foundation, our readers, individual donors, and sponsors.
