The Cherokee Nation is seeking artwork for Oklahoma’s longest-running Native American art show and competition.

The 55th annual Trail of Tears Art Show will be held April 11 through May 16 at the Gallery at Cherokee Springs Plaza and online at TrailofTearsArtShow.com.

There is no entry fee. Artists must be at least 18 years old and citizens of any federally recognized Native American tribe or nation. Submissions must be completed online at TrailofTearsArtShow.com/application by 11:59 p.m. CST on Feb. 27.

The juried show will award more than $18,000 in prizes across categories including painting, sculpture, pottery, basketry, graphics, jewelry, miniatures, diverse art forms, textiles, and photography and digital art.

An awards reception is scheduled for April 10 from 6 to 8:30 p.m., followed by the public opening April 11 at 10 a.m.

The Gallery at Cherokee Springs Plaza is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and is located at 3377 Cherokee Springs Road in Tahlequah. More information is available at VisitCherokeeNation.com.
