RIVERTON, WYOMING – The Wind River Hotel and Casino is proud to present the art of Sarah Ortegon, the reigning Miss Native American USA.

To celebrate, Miss Native American USA will kick off her exhibit in the Northern Arapaho Experience Cultural Room with a reception in the hotel lobby on March 3, 2014 at 5 p.m. The show will be on display during the months of March, April and May.

Located in the Wind River Hotel, the room tells the story of the Arapaho people through artifacts, paintings, photographs and storytelling. She will also be visiting the local reservation schools to discuss her art and unique journey.

The Wind River Hotel and Casino is located two miles south of Riverton, Wyoming. The establishment is owned and operated by the Northern Arapaho Tribe.

In 2013, Ortegon accepted the Miss Native American USA title in Tempe, Ariz. where she competed against nine other talented Native American contestants from across the country. She is from Denver, Coloradoand a member of the Northern Arapaho and Eastern Shoshone Tribes.

Last year, Ortegon graduated with a bachelor degree in fine arts from Metropolitan State University of Denver where she studied abroad in Rome and Florence. A jingle dancer, she also traveled to Eastern Europe with the renowned dance group, the Native Pride Dancers, and performed for communities in the Republic of Moldova.

Promoting alcohol awareness and healthy living in Indian Country is important to Ortegon and she plans on using her platform and love of art to spread her message. Last year, she also opened an art exhibit in Denver, Colo. on the Metropolitan State University campus.
