566 Tribal Nations are in Washington for tomorrow’s White House Tribal Nations Conference

WASHINGTON – On Wednesday, December 3, Vice President Biden will deliver opening remarks to the White House Tribal Nations Conference at the Capital Hilton in Washington, DC.  The Vice President will highlight the landmark provisions in the Violence Against Women Act of 2013 that will help tribes combat domestic violence.

The conference will provide leaders from the 566 federally recognized tribes the opportunity to interact with the White House Council on Native American Affairs. In its sixth year, the conference builds upon the President’s commitment to strengthen the government-to-government relationship with Indian Country and to improve the lives of Native Americans.

 

The opening and closing sessions of the Conference will be open to pre-credentialed members of the media.  The Vice President is expected to deliver remarks during the opening session.
