SALT RIVER PIMA-MARICOPA INDIAN COMMUNITY, ARIZONA— The Life Enhancement and Resource Network (L.E.A.R.N.) announces the 6th Annual Men and Women’s Gathering July 21-23, 2014 at the Talking Stick Resort located on the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community in Scottsdale Arizona.
Last year’s conference had over 300 registrants and included several keynote speakers and various workshops. The 2015 keynote speakers have been announced and include:
- Author and professor Anton Treuer will share strategies from several successful tribal education programs and schools to show how educational success and positive indigenous identity development go hand-in-hand.
- Start your own fitness journey with Waylon Pahona, founder of the Facebook group Healthy Active Natives (HANs) who will talk about the benefits of exercise and how to find balance in your life.
- Jenelle Howard, SRPMIC Tribal Council member, will be sharing her own personal story and what kinds of social services are available to families in Indian Country.
The three-day conference will include a night of cultural sharing and a two hour Zumbathon.
