PINE RIDGE INDIAN RESERVATON — On October 2, 2018 Native (Oglala Lakota) rock recording artist Davidica will release her new single “U Trust Who” on air at KILI Radio, 90.1 FM and on the web (www.kiliradio.org) at 12 noon on the Daddy D daily mix show.
Davidica’s songwriting style has always been a mix of storytelling and distinctive power chord riffs. True to her rock and roll nature she has written a song that stings with truth but moves you with rock rhythm and angst. The new single tells a story of the devastating emotional roller coaster that defines the classic controlling relationship.
“Davidica’s approach to life and rock and roll has always been gritty and honest, and now with a little help from DEREK MILLER at the recording console, she delivers that trademark grit and honesty with a passion that can’t be denied with her new single U TRUST WHO. Who says rock and roll is dead?” -Rockwired Magazine.
Davidica is dedicating her single to bringing awareness to the plight of Missing and Murdered Indigenous Men and Women. She has teamed up with organizations and individuals from across the US and Canada to help in strengthening the networking circle to find solutions for the lack of resources available to families of the missing and murdered. Davidica is currently working with Spoken Word artist Thana Redhawk, Spoken Word activists The Peace Poets, Movement Rapper Indiginize, activist/coordinator Meskee Yatsayte, activist Anna Rondon and organizations Native Music Television, Navajo Nation Missing Person’s Updates, Missing and Murdered Indigenous Relatives, Red Feather Alert and FNX Television to get this intentionally disregarded struggle the awareness it deserves.
Davidica’s original single was recorded and produced by two-time Juno Award Winner and rock artist Derek Miller, a Mohawk from Ontario, Canada. The artwork for the single was commissioned especially by award winning Native (Tongva) female illustrator and comic book artist Weshoyot Alvitre. The single release is a precursor to her long awaited full album of original songs to be released in January 2019.
“The single along with the album is a ten-year collection of true stories of frailty and the realities that we all endure as human beings today.” -Davidica
