ERIE, PENNSYLVANIA – The Lake Erie Warriors had a short-lived existence–at least in name and its proposed logo. The Tier III Junior A league team underwent a name and logo change in late July after a logo was circulated on social media and was deemed to be racist.
The team is being established this year as a member of the National College Prospects Hockey League.
The team was renamed (rebranded) the Lake Erie Gulls for a day. By the end of July, the team had a third name before the puck hit the ice: the Lake Erie Eagles.
Now, if only the Washington NFL team would take the clue about names, logos and racism.
