MANDAN, NORTH DAKOTA – Last month a North Dakota prosecutor charged Democracy Now! journalist Amy Goodman trespassing for filming of security guards for Dakota Access turning attack dogs and pepper spray on American Indian land protectors near the Standing Rock Indian Reservation, close to Cannon Ball, North Dakota on Saturday, September 3, 2016.

Goodman now faces a charge of rioting.

“I wasn’t trespassing, I wasn’t engaging in a riot, I was doing my job as a journalist by covering a violent attack on Native American protesters,” said Goodman.

“This is an unacceptable violation of freedom of the press,” said Amy Goodman in a statement. “I was doing my job by covering pipeline guards unleashing dogs and pepper spray on Native American protesters.”
