Rep. Deb Haaland

WASHINGTON – Congresswoman Deb Haaland (NM-01) released the following statement after the State of the Union Address:
“Actions speak louder than words. President Trump failed the middle class and has taken our country down a path of division and fear. Families are still recovering from the Trump shutdown, our trans troops are still being discriminated against, and our immigrant communities still live in fear. With new Democratic leadership in Congress, we’ll be working for the people to fight climate change, invest in quality public education, and create good paying jobs.”
Rep. Haaland is a tribal citizen of the Pueblo of Laguna. She, along with Rep. Sharice Davids (Kan.-03), a tribal citizen of the Ho-Chunk Nation, became the first women ever elected to Congress last November.
