The National Coalition Against Racism in Sports and Media calls on all supporters who marched against the Washington NFL team last November 2, 2014 to join them again to end racism in sports and media.
Dear sponsors of this event,
Why are you holding this in Minneapolis when it is the people of Cleveland you need to impact? If you know my city of Cleveland then you’ll know that name won’t change unless we reach the people here. We are not the same city as Washington so a different strategy is needed, much more personal and local. If you need contacts for the Native organizations here in Cleveland let me know. These organizations have been on this Wahoo topic formally since the 60’s and might have some insight you will need to impact our city. Come to Cleveland as it seems odd to this Clevelander that people not connected to Cleveland at all are protesting about Cleveland 14 hours away. Or maybe I am wrong and you have made those connections already. If so please ignore my email.
Thank you for reading!
Kind Regards
Kevin
Get over your wayyyyy too sensitive political correctness… Chief Wahoo’s intent is to be cute, not offensive.
Really??? So a big smiling dumb looking caricature of an Indian is supposed to be cute? And for your information, it’s not ‘Political Correctness’, it’s called fighting against racism. Yes, I’m Lenape American Indian.
Wish I could be there to join in the protest against this racist symbol utilized to both gain profit for their baseball franchise, and keep the investors happy since it continues to sell the franchise. Boycott sports games played by any team using racist stereotypes and/or names – hurt them in the wallet – that may be the only way to get them to change their ways since for them the dollar is more important than a people’s dignity.
never did like the cleveland indians, i’m a detroit tiger fan, and i hated the trade that got us rocky calivito for harvey kuen. but seriously- if it’s offensive to 1st americans, STOP IT.
Thank you.
I LOVE Chief Wahoo
