KANSAS CITY — The suspense for the results of the hotly contested Democratic race in Kansas 3rd Congressional district continues this morning as Sharice Davids (Ho Chunk Nation) is currently leading in a race too close to call.
Voting results were slow coming overnight. At the time polls officially closed in suburban Kansas City, voters were still standing in line waiting to vote. Election officials allowed each voter to have their vote count.
Davids, who seeking to become the first American Indian woman elected to the U.S. Congress, is leading over her closest challenger, Brent Welder, by less than 500 votes as of 8:00 a.m. (EDT) this morning with 71 percent of the vote reporting.
52,489 votes, 71% reporting (443 of 628 precincts)
