FORT PECK INDIAN RESERVATION— Janelle Red Dog, 42, has confessed to killing 13-month-old Kenzley Olson according to Ken Trottier, a criminal investigator for the Bureau of Indian Affairs, who is assigned to the Fort Peck Indian Reservation. Trottier recounted the confession in a Fort Peck Tribal Court earlier on Friday, April 22 when Red Dog was given a preliminary hearing in the baby girl’s tragic death.
Authorities did not released information about the relationship between Red Dog and the baby girl.
Kenzley Olson, a 13-month-old American Indian girl, was found dead on Wednesday.
Trottier testified the confession came one day after Red Dog called law enforcement to say the baby girl was missing.
Trottier says Red Dog confessed to hitting the young child with blunt force on Tuesday that left the child dead and then putting the young child’s lifeless body into a duffel bag. She then dumped Kenzley Olson’s body in a dumpster.
Court officials indicated that Red Dog did not enter a plea and was returned to jail. Red Dog is being held without bond until a hearing that is scheduled for next Tuesday, April 26, 2016.
