Chickasaw Nation Young Professionals Selected for Distinguished State Award

A native of Jenks, Okla., Ms. Orr earned a Bachelor of Arts in Communications from Southeastern Oklahoma State University, Durant. While at SEOSU, Ms. Orr was on the Dean’s List for academic achievement four consecutive years, and served as president of Sigma Sigma Sigma sorority, where she continues to serve as membership/recruitment advisor.

Ms. Orr also serves on the board of Young Professionals of Ada Leadership Committee and twice served as a board member of Young Professionals of Ada Social Committee. She is currently serving her second term as president of the philanthropic organization, Our Time Tanti.

She is a member of the Association for Women in Communication, Blog Oklahoma, and Oklahoma Women Bloggers Network, where she was named “Blogger of the Month” in 2013. She was also the 2012 recipient of the Chickasaw Nation Department of Communications Community Achievement Award.

Mr. Chitwood, a Sulphur native, serves as general manager of the Artesian Hotel and Spa, Sulphur.

Mr. Chitwood began his service to the Chickasaw Nation in 2013, when the 81-room Artesian Hotel and Spa opened. During this time, the luxury hotel has been awarded Outstanding Lodging Property, Outstanding Marketing and Best Social Media Campaign by the Oklahoma Travel Industry Association and Murray County Business of the Year by the Sulphur-Davis Chamber of Commerce.  Mr.  Chitwood was also honored as Hotel General Manager of the Year in 2014 by the Oklahoma Hotel and Lodging Association.

In addition to his work duties, Mr. Chitwood volunteers with Kiwanis International, Making Promises Happen, a program which provides outdoor recreational opportunities to special needs individuals, and the Sulphur Chamber of Commerce.

He is a member of American Hotel and Lodging Association, Oklahoma Hotel and Lodging Association and the American Camp Association.

Mr. Chitwood previously served as director of operations at Central Christian Camp and Conference Center, Guthrie, Okla.

He earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science at Wabash College, Crawfordsville, Indiana.

Mr. Chitwood is the son of Fred and Pam Chitwood and the grandson of Calvin and Inez Agee and Bob and Helen Chitwood, all of Sulphur.

A panel of Oklahoma business and civic leaders selected Ms. Orr and Mr. Chitwood as two of the iON Oklahoma 30-30 Next Gen award recipients from nearly 2,000 nominees.
