Cherokee Communities Rally to Help Flood-affected Chewey Community

The “Northern End Pitching In” campaign raised $2,500 in cash and collected appliances, household items, food and building materials for the Neighborhood Association of Chewey, the Cherokee organization organizing the relief efforts.

“We have had a lot of people donate from all over, and we thank everybody for everything they have done for the people around here,” said Neighborhood Association of Chewey board member Eva Manning.

Several other successful relief efforts closer to the Chewey community are also currently underway, as well as direct assistance from the Cherokee Nation’s emergency management and human services departments.
