Tribally-owned Company, InTerra Nutraceuticals, Introduces Functional Therapeutic Lotions & Serums

Published March 18, 2018

TRAVERSE CITY, MICHIGAN — InTerra Nutraceuticals, a 100 percent tribally-owned business enterprise of the Little River Band of Ottawa Indians, has introduced an all-natural product line of therapeutic lotions that can be purchased online.

Based in Traverse City, Michigan, InTerra Nutraceuticals is a formulations company that markets functional therapeutic products. InTerra products are created primarily from proprietary highly concentrated 100 percent natural tart cherries, ultra-refined Kalaya oil (emu oil) and Omega 3, 6 & 9 sourced from cold water mercury-free fish oil. The synergetic effect of these primary ingredients provides natural therapeutic benefits from sports enthusiasts to the older adults suffering from arthritis, joint and skin inflammation, eczema, psoriasis, migraines, and other common ailments.

Established in 2004,  the company was originally called Cerise Nutraceuticals. The business was acquired by the Little River Band of Ottawa Indians in late 2016. The tribe renamed the company InTerra (meaning “of the earth”) Nutraceuticals to provide new packaging and updated formulations to the lotions. The vision of the tribe and new management group was to introduce completely re-designed proven legacy products that were refined and improved. From the original products, these highly acclaimed offerings provide the foundation for new opportunities and accelerated growth in the wellness market on a global scale.

“I believe in many of the natural qualities of the products, such as the tart cherries, and their relationship with tribe’s ancestral homelands, as well as the patented science and testimonials demonstrating the impressive efficacy of the product,” says Little River Band of Ottawa Indians Ogema Larry Romanelli.

The vision of the tribe and new management group, was to fast-track the launch of completely re-designed legacy products that were refined and improved, but then the Tribe further challenged the team to create highly valued formulations not offered in the marketplace previously.

“My goal is to develop products that we all can be proud of in quality, packaging design, and effectiveness that in fact have real functional and holistic benefits to the world.  All of our products are based around what Mother Earth has allowed us to borrow, and those gifts have already proven to be amazing for so many people,” says Garrick Opie, executive vice president. “Now, it’s time to help as many people as possible through nature, and continue to do so for seven generations and beyond,” Opie continues.

While InTerra Nutraceuticals packages its lotions for world-wide consumers, the company is in conversation with national distributors, hotel chains, and other tribes to gain large-scale distribution and sales. InTerra Nutraceuticals is also seeking to sell its products in American Indian-owned gifts shops, hotels, and casinos throughout Indian Country.

Based in Manistee, Michigan, the Little River Band of Ottawa Indians is a federally recognzed tribe that owns and operates the Little River Casino Resort.
