Update: Navajo Officer Dies from Gunshot Wound Sustained While on a Domestic Violence Call

Navajo Nation Police Officer Houston Largo, 27, died on Sunday afternoon.

ALBUQUERQUE – The Navajo Nation police officer shot during a domestic violence call in Casamero Lake near Prewitt, New Mexico has died. The police officer has been identified as Houston Largo, 27, a five-year veteran of the police department.

Officer Largo had responded to a call of a domestic dispute  taking place in the early hours of Sunday, March 12, 2017. He was shot and transported by helicopter to the University of New Mexico Hospital.

He passed away Sunday afternoon at about 3:00 p.m. as the result of the injuries sustained in the call of duty. A suspect was arrested and is in custody. The FBI is the lead investigating law enforcement in this case. Other law enforcement departments involved in this case are the Navajo Nation Police Department and the New Mexico State Police.
