UNO Native American Film Festival to Feature Family Friendly Short Films

LINCOLN — The University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO) and Vision Maker Media announce the list of Family Friendly Films for the Third Annual Native American Film Festival in Omaha, November 6-8.

Festival activities kick off at 7 p.m. on Friday at the Joslyn Art Museum with a screening of Wind Walkers, followed by a Q&A with actor Rudy Youngblood (Comanche, Cree, and Yaqui) and filmmakers Russell Friedenberg and Heather Rae (Cherokee).

The festival continues at 10 a.m. Saturday at UNO’s Roskens Hall, 6001 Dodge St., with a screening of Family Friendly Films, including:

Standing Bear and the Trail Ahead, Nebraska Commission on Indian Affairs

Monster Slayer Trailer, Tomorrow’s Here Productions

The Medicine Game 2, Luke Korver

REZ WORLD Trailer, Tomorrow’s Here Productions

Isabelle’s Garden, Jeffrey Palmer

Guardians of the Rez Trailer, Tomorrow’s Here Productions

In addition, at 10 a.m. those interested in attending a producing workshop can join Rae and Friedenberg at Roskens Hall.

At 1 p.m., attend a screening of First Circle, followed by a Q&A with Rae and Friedenberg. Or attend an acting workshop with Youngblood and Friedenberg at Roskens Hall.

At 3 p.m. there will be a screening of Trudell, followed by a Q&A with Rae and Friedenberg. From 7-9 p.m. attend a screening of Frozen River and a Q&A with Rae afterward.

On Sunday at UNO’s Roskens Hall there will be a 1 p.m. screening of Rising Voices/Hótȟaŋiŋpi and a 3 p.m. screening of Mother Kuskokwim, followed by a Q&A with the Creighton Backpack Journalism Students.
