LOUISVILLE — Umatilla tribal citizen Shoni Schimmel scored a season-high 30 points today as the nation’s No. 7 ranked Louisville Cardinals women’s basketball team beat Colorado with a 69-62 victory on Saturday, December 21, 2013 at the KFC YUM! Center.
Schimmel scored 13 of her points by going 13 for 16—or 81 percent—from the free-throw line. The senior guard had one three-point basket as she worked towards her season-high 30 points leading her team to its fifth straight victory. She played 38 minutes in the victory.
Last season, Schimmel led her Louisville team with 14.2 ppg and 136 assists. She was named BIG EAST Player of the Week on February 4, 2013 and named the Most Outstanding Player of the Oklahoma City Regional NCAA Tournament.
Her sister and teammate, Jude, the junior guard, scored 6 points in the victory.
After Saturday afternoon’s victory, the Louisville Cardinals team is 12-1 for the season.
