“The Gathering of Nations Powwow is a very spiritual and social celebration,” said Duke Rodriguez, CEO and president of Ultra Health. “At Ultra Health we believe such components are vital to well-being, and sponsoring the event was an obvious decision in light of the importance Native people have historically put on healing and natural medicine.”
The powwow, which gathered nearly 90,000 people last year, is a 3 day event where all people can celebrate and share Native culture as well as enjoy dancing and singing competitions. More than 3,000 singers and dancers representing more than 700 tribes from Canada and the United States gather inAlbuquerque annually to participate socially and competitively. This event is considered the “Super Bowl” of Indian dance competition.
The powwow, which will be held April 27th to 29th, 2017 on the new Powwow Grounds at Tingley Coliseum/EXPO in Albuquerque, features contemporary and traditional Native American music and exhibitions featuring the work from more than 800 Native American artisans, craftsmen and traders. Ultra Health has agreed to the title sponsorship for the next five years and an option through 2027.
