U.S. Senator Martin Heinrich Calls on President Obama to Reroute Dakota Access Pipeline

US Senator Martin Heinrich

WASHINGTON — Today, U.S. Senator Martin Heinrich (D-N.M.) issued the following statement on the Dakota Access pipeline on Thanksgiving:
“Today is Thanksgiving and I cannot help but reflect on our history in these United States and how often it has not lived up to the rosy picture of Pilgrims and Indians sharing a meal in friendly company that I saw in textbooks as a child. The issues facing Indian Country are many and they are complex, but that should not stop those of us in positions of elected leadership from seeking to make a difference wherever and whenever we can.
“The recent escalation of violence against members of the Standing Rock Sioux tribe and those standing in solidarity with them is fundamentally wrong and must be condemned. Back in September, days after these protests began, I spoke out against these aggressive tactics and called on President Obama to intervene.
“The Obama Administration quickly announced that they were putting a halt to the project until they could respond to the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe and to concerns from across the nation by establishing better tribal consultation and by addressing water supply and spill concerns.
“Today, I am calling on the President and the Army Corps of Engineers to reroute the pipeline. No pipeline is worth more than the respect we hold for our Native American neighbors. No pipeline is worth more than the clean water that we all depend on. This pipeline is not worth the life of a single protester.
“There is no excuse for the brutality we’ve seen in recent days and it should not be rewarded.”
Thank you US Senator Martin Heinrich. Your words are very encouraging to Native American people, especially when you start by recalling what was taught in schools. Today, we know that what was taught and what is factual is not the same. Tribes were slaughtered in the “days of thanks”. My Ancestors offered peace and love yet were met with greed. Still, to this day it seems the dark demons surround those who only want to chase their paper idol, money. It’s pathetic and disheartening to watch all of these videos. All of the hatred towards people who only seek to PROTECT THE EARTH. To Protect what the Creator has given. Let me ask you, Whom do you think is the humble of heart? Whom do you think the Creator looks down upon and shows grace to? No matter what religion a person believes, it’s best to be known in a lifetime as a PROTECTOR rather than A DESTROYER. Wouldn’t you agree?
I can’t understand why the President hasn’t moved on his just waiting, tic-toc, for things to work themselves out. We do have laws and regulations in this country that have been parsed and skewered but the meanings remain. For each there is a preamble like the famous “We the people of the United States of America in order to. . .”
Likewise are these used in RFPs (request for proposal), for example; in item” 6 1944 Flood Control Act Pick-Sloan Plan Represented a merger of Missouri River Development Plans Represented a merger of Missouri River Development Plans – Corps of Engineers (Col. Lewis Pick):emphasized flood control, navigation, dam building, industrial water use – Bureau of Reclamation (William Sloan); emphasized irrigation, hydro power, water conservation, wildlife and recreation – The separate plans merged in Dec., 1944 as part of the Flood Control Act passed by Congress – The flood events on the Missouri in 1935, 1942, 1943 and 1944 provided impetus to Congress for passage of the FCA in 1944 ,” but no where did I find running a pipeline under The Missouri River which would decimate irrigation of the land. The proof of such a disaster is proven by the records. It was only a couple of years ago that there was a “brine” of fracked wastewater dumped into the river. In other words, Pick/Sloan Core of engineers has argued for the exact opposite of what today’s Core is doing. If that is so, then POTUS definitely has the right and duty to fire the current Col. and replace him ASAP.
Drink no poisoned water water, eat no poisoned food, and breath no poisoned air, it’s not good for you and your family. . . .
I stand with The People of Standing Rock.
I stand with the People of Puerto Rico.
I stand with The People of the Aleutian Islands

Please!!!!! These natives have always suffered from the white man. Today is Thanksgiving, they gave us corn and life, and we took their land and moved them away from their homes. We need to give them peace. Take the thugs in money castles and stop this Indian war.!!!!!!
So proud to be a New Mexican!
It will take unflagging effort to correct 524 years of sin. We know better and can do better. Let change start with each of us. Thank you Senator.
Thank you US Senator Martin Heinrich for Standing With Standing Rock.
It need to stop Period. All of it. It has already failed and is causing spillage onto farmlands. We need out soil to grow and feed animals and people, we need clean water for now and for future generations. Stop the FRACKING of OIL as well as the earthquakes are not worth it ” No FRACKING Period: it need to be out-lawed. They are destroying out Country. Drill it and truck it or Stop it altogether and develop wind and Sun energy.
Talk, Talk, Talk, it’s the same old rhetoric. Let’s face it all Congressmen, but a handful, have been bought off by the Globalists, the Bilderbergs, the New World Order bunch. They’re all a castrated bunch of fruitless peons just like a majority of our tribal councils across Indian Country. Nothing is going to be done by the Congressmen until or after the new President and his administration are in power.
I am shocked and ashamed at this! How can this be happening? I cannot believe that President Obama has not stepped up to the plate. It’s just wrong. I am proud of those brave enough to stand unarmed and take this abuse without responding. No violence from the people that are defending our earth. I am shocked and ashamed at the brutality and at the despicable brutes doing these despicable acts of violence. They are not law enforcers. They are horrible cowards inflicting horrible acts against innocent citizens. They should be punished. Is this the way our government reacts to non-violence? Ashamed. I am ashamed.
Right on! Now that’s a brave US Senator!
The financial institutions funding the DAPL also funds the DNC. Dems can’t say anything without losing their campaign funding. This guy probably won’t get any funds when he runs for reelection. We need to to crowd source his reelection.

This is the worst situation that I can remember as a citizen of this country, Hillary Clinton sold her soul as well as the rest of the Democratic party not to mention that the Republican party is just as corrupted as well. President Obama has bought and paid for by big business software it is no wonder that the Federal judges are saying go ahead with this, that being said, I participated in a drumming circle and was transported back to 1890 and saw the massacre at Wounded Knee. I am praying to the father, mother god for deliverance from this onslaught of tyranny that the government and the oil companies are inflicting on my brothers and sisters of Indigenous peoples. I actually broke down in tears over this. I have served in the military for 20 years and knew that the government can not keep their word on treaties, let alone what happened at the Twin Towers! That was orchestrated by black ops, just so that they could wage war with Iraq and Afghanistan. This has caused the biggest mess that has befallen this country since WWII. I ask for divine intervention to come and stop this carnage as I too am a part of the land and as James Cameron wrote in the movie Avatar all of nature must come together and fight as one to defeat this evilness’. Most of the politicians from the local level all the way up to the white house have been bought and paid for by big business, and this is where divine intervention must be brought in to stop this madness of destruction. I stand with you of all tribes because I was a native in a past life. I stand with the Lakota tribes in this time of need.
