Senate Committee on Indian Affairs to Hold Business Meeting & Legislative Hearing

WASHINGTON — On Wednesday, November 18, 2015, at 2:15 PM EST, the Senate Committee on Indian Affairs (SCIA)will hold a business meeting to consider S. 817, a bill to provide for the addition of certain real property to the reservation of the Siletz Tribe in the State of Oregon; and S. 818, a bill to amend the Grand Ronde Reservation Act to make technical corrections, and for other purposes.

Immediately following the business meeting, the SCIA will hold a legislative hearing to receive testimony on the following bills:

  • S. 410, a bill to strengthen Indian education, and for other purposes;
  • S. 1163, a bill to amend the Native American Programs Act of 1974 to provide flexibility and reauthorization to ensure the survival and continuing vitality of Native American Languages; and
  • S. 1928, the “Native Educator Support and Training Act,” a bill to support the education of Indian children.
