New format to offer culture at rotating stations
BISMARCK, NORH DAKOTA – Fourth Grade classes and groups are invited to Youth Day at the United Tribes Technical College Powwow, beginning at 10 a.m. on Friday, September 8 on the college campus.
Classes from area and regional schools are invited as part of organized outings. There is no admission fee for students, teachers or escorts.
The 2017 event features a new format. Cultural sharing and learning is offered at four, rotating stations. The topics are history, games, story-telling, and music and dance. Audience participation is included.
Youth Day is a collaboration of Theodore Jamerson Elementary School (TJES) on the UTTC campus and Bismarck Public Schools. The program runs to noon.
The event takes place on a grassy plaza east of the college administration building on Sisseton Road.
Groups are advised to plan for their own lunches or to purchase lunch at the powwow food court. Everyone is invited to take-in the 1 p.m. powwow grand entry.
