“Let ‘s get a good old fashioned Indian war going!” — Kirk Shewchuck, chief financial officer,

ISABELLA INDIAN RESERVATION The Saginaw Chippewa Tribal Police are investigating a recent disparaging racist phone message left on a tribal planning engineer’s phone about American Indians.

ACDnet2The irony of the message was it came from a phone company, based in Lansing, Michigan, who wanted to do business with the Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe of Michigan. The company, obviously, which specializes in telecommunications own system malfunctioned.

In early May, Kirk Shewchuck, chief financial officer of ACD, net, called the tribal office of Donald Seal, tribal planning engineer, to talk about the possibility of the telecommunications company installing a cell phone tower on tribal trust land.

Apparently not happy with his desired goal, Shewchuck left a message on Seal’s phone that was laced with profanity, which the Native News Online has chosen to publish.

Here is part of the message that is fit for family:

“Let’s sic the Sault(?) Sioux Tribe on you! Let ‘s get a good old fashioned Indian war going! woo woo woo woo woo (laughter) … go up to the reservation and so you don’t want a wireless tower here? You know what happens to your cell phone signals . .. (laughter). . .I’ll turn it back on in a few minutes after you agree to .. .. maybe they would like that. ”

”These statements are just as irresponsible and disrespectful as those made by outspoken and often offensive Oakland County Executive, L Brooks Patterson. I wonder if CEO, Kevin Schoen tolerates this type of racial and vulgar activity by his executives?” asks Saginaw Chippewa Tribal Chief Steve Pego.

The Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe of Michigan has a long history of working with other companies to provide services and entertainment to Mid-Michigan in a mutually respectful manner.

Chief Pego further states “In today’s society, tolerance and mutual respect are still goals to be obtained and not what we assume we should have. That in itself is a sad reality. I would ask that all Native Americas and other minority groups stand with us in denouncing Mr. Kirk Shewchuck and”

“This matter has been turned over to tribal police for an investigation. There is a veiled threat here when he said ‘Let ‘s get a good old fashioned Indian war going!’,” commented Frank Cloutier, public relations director of the Saginaw Chippewa Tribe.

Shewchuck did not return a call to the Native News Online for comment.
