Native American Architect Jason Holuby Named Principal of New Affiliate
OKLAHOMA CITY – Recognizing the growing opportunities for specialized architectural and engineering services with Native American tribes across the United States, FSB’s president, Gary James, announced today the creation of an affiliate firm named New Fire Native Design Group.
One of the largest architectural and engineering firms in the southwest, FSB’s design portfolio includes substantial projects for several Native American tribes including the Chickasaw, Choctaw and Muscogee (Creek) Nations.
“The time is right to create a design group with a deep understanding and appreciation for Native American cultures and heritage to meet the unique architectural and engineering needs of this specialty market,” James said. “We are enjoying incredible success working with Native American tribes in Oklahoma. We appreciate the quality and quantity of the projects the past few years, including the Chickasaw Nation Cultural Center and Museum and Choctaw Nation Headquarters building.”
The New Fire Native Design affiliate will be led by FSB architect Jason Holuby, a Native American who is a member of the Muskogee (Creek) Nation. “Jason is an accomplished member of our leadership team who has worked tirelessly to build our vibrant Native American business. Passionate about his work with tribal leaders, Jason’s own Native American heritage and his collaborative approach to projects focuses on designing and engineering facilities to meet the specific needs of the tribes as well as celebrating their unique cultures. He is the right person to lead this enterprise.”
A graduate of the University of Oklahoma where he earned a Bachelor of Architecture degree, Holuby became a Principal at FSB in 2014, making him the youngest principal in the firm. He is an active member of Leadership Native Oklahoma and the American Institute of Architects.
“Leading the New Fire Native Design affiliate is personally a great honor for me,” Holuby said. “As a Native American, I consider it a privilege to work at a firm the past 14 years where I have been encouraged to pursue opportunities with Native American tribes and hire Native American architects. Now, the creation of a design affiliate exclusively for Native American projects is the ideal next step. It speaks to the growth we have experienced in this business sector and the confidence we have in its future. I truly believe our ability to understand the unique needs and culture of tribes as well as respect their business practices will give us an advantage in working with tribes on their land.”
The new Native American design affiliate will have access to the comprehensive engineering, technical, project planning and management as well as programming expertise at FSB.
