The Nottawaseppi Huron Band of the Potawatomi Swears in Recently Elected Tribal Council Members

FULTON, MICHIGAN –The Nottawaseppi Huron Band of the Potawatomi (NHBP) issued the oath of office today to re-elected Tribal Council Members Christine Lanning and Dorie Rios, as well as newly elected Tribal Council Member Dr. Jeff Chivis at the Pine Creek Indian Reservation in Fulton, Michigan.

Upon completion of the oath of office, NHBP Tribal Council conducted its officers’ appointments. Jamie Stuck was appointed Chairperson, Dorie Rios was appointed Vice-Chairperson, Christine Lanning was appointed as Secretary, Dr. Jeff Chivis was appointed as Treasurer, and Homer A. Mandoka was appointed Sergeant-at-Arms.

“This is an exciting time for our tribe” Stuck said. “The NHBP community welcomes the addition of a new Tribal Council Member to our already stable and experienced tribal legislative body.  We look forward to the continuation of the self-governance and self-determination of our sovereign nation as we strive to provide for the next seven generations.”

Stuck, of Scotts, has served on Tribal Council since 2006. Rios, of Battle Creek, has served on Tribal Council since 2010. Lanning, of Newaygo, has served on Tribal Council since 2013. Chivis, of Middleville, is newly elected. Mandoka, of Bronson, has served on Tribal Council since 2002.
