NICWA Announces 2019 Annual Call for Artists Winner

Knowing What Really Matters

Published July 4, 2018

PORTLAND, Ore. — The National Indian Child Welfare Association (NICWA) is pleased to announce the winner of its 2019 Annual Call For Artists, Orlando Begay, a Navajo artist, currently residing in Kansas.

Much of Begay’s artistic inspiration comes from his family, who are basket weavers. His beautiful artwork, titled Knowing What Really Matters, will inspire and guide us as we plan the next conference program. The selected art is a reminder to us to refocus our energies and spirits on what is most important in life: friends and family.

NICWA’s 2019 conference will be held in Albuquerque, New Mexico, on March 31-April 3, 2019. See this artwork and previous years’ selected artwork here.
