NEW YORK – Appearing on Fox News’ Sean Hannity show on Friday evening, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich said Robert Mueller has hired too many high-powered lawyers in the Russian investigation “to go home without a scalp.”

“This is like watching an old-fashioned Western movie. This is an Indian hunting party. They’re out looking for a couple scouts, and they’re not going to go home until they get some,” Gingrich said.

On Wednesday, it was reported that Mueller hired 13 lawyers for the investigation and he plans to hire more. Mueller has President Donald Trump under criminal investigation in the investigation that is exploring the possible collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia during last year’s presidential election. Mueller is also reportedly investigating if Trump committed an act of obstruction of justice when he fired former director of the FBI James Comey.

Gingrich was on Trump’s short list to become the vice president nominee.
