Navajo Public Safety Seeking Help to Locate Missing Navajo Elderly Man

Lee Bitsui is missing from the Navajo Nation.

STEAMBOAT, Ariz. — The Navajo Division of Public Safety issued a news release Thursday, January 3, 2019 in an effort to locate Lee Bitsui, 76, who has been missing since December 28 or December 29, 2018 while herding sheep near Steamboat, Arizona.

Here is the release:

Lee Bitsui’s last known cellphone communication was on Thursday, December 27 however he was last seen sheepherding on his ATV around December 28-29, 2018 in the Steamboat area.

The family of Lee Bitsui, the Navajo Nation Department of Emergency Management and Navajo Police Department are coordinating local search efforts.

As search efforts continue, Navajo Nation Vice President Jonathan Nez issued the following statement, “My thoughts and prayers are with the family and for the safety of the volunteers in the search efforts” Vice President Nez said.
