Navajo Code Talker’s Relative Wants an Apology from Trump

Published November 28, 2017

SEBA DALKAI, ARIZONA –  On Monday afternoon, the current occupant of the White House thought he could throw in a cheap joke about his political enemy, Senator Elizabeth Warren, by calling her Pocahontas on the day he was supposed to honor Navajo Code Talkers.

Marty Thompson, whose grandfather’s brother, Dennie Housteen, was a Navajo Code Talker, was not having any of it. Thompson wants an apology from the president. He let his request known by posting on the “Our Navajo Code Talkers” Facebook page hours after Trump’s inappropriate statement about Pocahontas.

Below is what Thompson posted:

To: The President of the United States

From: Our Navajo Code Talkers Facebook Page

Let me put this in terms that I hopefully you can understand. I will use little words and short sentences that even a six-grade class president will understand.

The “Our Navajo Code Talkers” Facebook page is NOT the Official Navajo Code Talkers Association Page. I do not speak or write for the Navajo Code Talkers Association. But, I will speak and write on behalf of my Navajo Code Talker. Our page is non-political, until now.

My name is Marty Thompson; my Grandfather’s youngest brother was a Navajo Code Talker. So I have every right to say anything to you because I cherish our beloved Navajo Code Talkers with Honor and Respect.

Unlike you I bet you didn’t even know anything about the Navajo Code Talkers. I’ve heard that you had asked your Chief of Staff about who they are.

There were three… Navajo Code Talkers standing and sitting with pride and dignity next to you. But, you Honor and Respect them with a dumb ass, racist, derogatory comment about Pocahontas. Do you even know the true Pocahontas?

Mr. Peter MacDonald’s story of the heroic deeds of the Navajo Code Talkers during World War II is commendable and honorable.

Mr. President, your short speech was good, up until your stupid remark referring a woman senator as Pocahontas.

Come on Mr. President, grow up and educate yourself about who Pocahontas was. Then maybe, someone will actually respect you.

With Respect and Honor for all Navajo Code Talkers and the descendants of Pocahontas’s people. I hereby demand an official apology from you regarding your dumb, crude and senseless attempt of a joke during the event.

Marty Thompson
