Native Actress Misty Upham’s Cause of Death Under Investigation – Family to Host Vigil Sunday Afternoon

AUBURN, WASHINGTON — The cause of Native actress Misty Upham’s death is pending investigation according to the King County Medical Examiner’s Office.

However, in the same statement, the King County Medical Examiner’s Office ruled the 32-year-old Upham died on Sunday, October 5, 2014, the same night she left her sister’s home near the Muckleshoot Casino in Auburn, Washington.

Her body was discovered by a search party, which included her uncle, Robert Upham early Thursday afternoon 150 feet down a ravine near the White River within walking distance of her sister’s home.

Her father, Charlie Upham, identified her body later that afternoon at the scene of discovery.

Upham’s family is holding a vigil on Sunday, October 19, 2014, at 3:00 p.m. – PDT at the corner of Fir Street and Auburn Way in Auburn, a suburb of Seattle.

Upham was born in Kalispell, Montana, but grew up in Seattle. She has appeared in some dozen films including: “Skins,” “Skinwalkers,” “Frozen River” and “August: Osage County.”

In “August: Osage County,” she played the role of Johanna Moneveta, the housekeeper to Meryl Streep’s character.

Funeral arrangements are pending, but will be released later this weekend, according to the Tracy Rector, the family spokesperson.
