National Museum of the American Indian in Washington, D.C.

WASHINGTON – The National Musuem of the American Indian in Washington, D.C. and New York remain open at least through Monday during the federal govenement shutdown. Both of the Washington, D.C. and New York locations are operated with federal funds by the Smithsonian Institution.
On Friday night, the U.S. Senate failed to pass legislation that would have averted the federal government shutdown.
On Saturday afternoon, the Smithsoian Institution posted the following message on its Twitter account:
The Smithsonian museums in DC & NY, research centers & National Zoo will be open Monday, January 22. Prior year funds available to the Smithsonian make it possible to stay open. We‘ll post our status beyond Monday as soon as we know
