Myth vs Truth: Everything We Know Wrong About E-Cigs

Published September 7, 2018

Electronic cigarettes have become popular day by day among teens and adults – they replace the traditional cigarettes. But the question is if they’re as safe as they’re thought to be. If you want to find a gadget that suits you best, check out this E-Cig Brands List.

We’ve written this article to get you through the myths and to make you understand the truth.

They’re safe

In fact, they’re still tobacco products.

There are more than 500 brands and more than 7700 flavors that the FDA didn’t really take a look at. This means that we don’t know for sure what they contain. There may be toxic chemicals – a study showed that it contained an antifreeze and formaldehyde ingredient. So the FDA doesn’t have a say in this, so they’re not obligated to show us what’s in them – so no ingredient information, no warning label.

They don’t have nicotine

In fact, all of them have nicotine (even if they say they don’t).

A study was made in 2014 that gave insight about the nicotine levels from e-cigs. They also showed that there had been discrepancies between the level of the nicotine that was listed, and the truth.

We all need to keep in mind that nicotine is an addictive ingredient which can do you harm – it even impacts on the development of the brain. So it’s good to keep in mind that you’ll become an addictive if you use lots of that substance.

They can help you quit traditional cigarettes

In fact, they don’t help you at all in this matter.

Some people start with this idea, but they use them while smoking traditional cigarettes, too. And this happened to about 59% of those people.

If you want to quit smoking, e-cigs are not going to help you. You should, instead, go and talk to a doctor and he should prescribe you one of the seven medications which were approved by the FDA – they’re safe and they can actually make a difference. Also, the American Lung Association can help you a lot, when you find the program that suits you best.

E-cigs are not sold to kids

In fact, kids and adolescent are the ones who are using it most.

The e-cigs can have different flavors, such as strawberry, chocolate, bubble gum, even fruit loops, so we’re not surprised this happens a lot. And if we think about it, it’s just a tactic made by the industry to attract users. One thing is for sure: teens are using e-cigs instead of smoking traditional cigarettes. Wow.

No cast-off emissions from e-cigs

In fact, e-cigs are exposing others to cast-off emissions.

E-cigs emit a vapor which is exhaled by the users. That vapor includes formaldehyde, which is a form of carcinogens. We don’t know yet how much harm they can do to us.
