Mic Jordan just released the first single from his upcoming album Breathe. “Run Away” is the perfect take a breath of fresh air, sit back, and reflect track with its powerful message of reckoning with traumas and experiences.
In this time of year when most people in society are setting goals for the new year and making 2018 resolutions that address bettering oneself or not making the same mistakes as the previous year, “Run Away” reminds us that “trying to overcome the past” is a common struggle we all share. But, the song’s hard hitting message also shows us that finding healing is possible when we find the courage and strength to understand what it means to stay present in one’s life.
What “Run Away” does is open up a space for the listener and viewer to be vulnerable. The video shows the struggle Mic went through with his writing. Not be able to complete a song in over 2 years added some pressure. Rather than writing music, Mic spent that time finding balance physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually as shown in the video as well. While most songs leave us with just showing the struggle, “Run Away” delves deeper by taking us into the space of reflection: realizing when you run away from everything and anything that you are missing out what matters most.
On Wednesday, Dec 20th, The Ojibwe Hip Hop artist, Mic Jordan releases the official music video for his song “RUN AWAY” on his Facebook. The video was shot in Sisters, Oregon and was directed by Totem Ent.
