WINDOW ROCK — Navajo Nation President Russell Begaye and Vice-President Jonathan Nez  offered the following Christmas message to the Navajo Nation:

“As Christmas approaches, we would like to take this opportunity to extend Christmas greetings and good wishes for the New Year to all the people of the Navajo Nation.

It is now over one year and seven months since we received the great honor of becoming the President and Vice-President of the Navajo Nation. We appreciate your support to change the Navajo Nation for the better. We still have a lot to accomplish these next two years and sincerely appreciate your prayers for the executive branch as our administration moves forward.

During this Christmas season, we ask that you join us in prayer to cover our youth, elders, veterans and soldiers. Also, please take a moment to also think about those who don’t have a place to go, are struggling to make ends meet, or are dealing with the heartbreak of losing loved ones. Times can be tough but together we can overcome these challenges when we remember K’é, our communities, and the importance of helping out your neighbor.

As we celebrate this festive season, we hope you all have a chance to spend time with your family and share a bit of Christmas cheer with those around you. We send our thanks to all Navajo Chapters for their hospitality to welcome our team when they attended the chapter Christmas functions. We also ask that you don’t drink and drive as there are many who are traveling to be with family this Christmas.

On behalf of the Office of the President and Vice-President, our families and those from the executive branch, we wish you all a merry Christmas and hope that 2017 will be peaceful, prosperous and a healthy year for us all. God Bless and Yá’át’ééh Késhmish”
