Housing Secretary Julián Castro

SAN DIEGO — U.S. Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Secretary Julián Castro will deliver remarks before at the 72nd Annual Convention of the National Congress of American Indians on Monday, October 19, 2015.
The National Congress of American Indians is the nation’s oldest and largest American Indian organization. NCAI’s annual conference will attract thousands of American Indians from throughout Indian Country as they meet at the Town and Country Resort in San Diego, California. Castro will announce progress toward expanding HUD assistance for homeless veterans on tribal lands. He will also provide an overview of the Obama administration’s commitment to Indian Country.
Castro visited the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in October 2014 and addressed the Native American Journalists Association at its annual National Native Media Conference held in Arlington, Virginia this past summer.
The 41 year-old HUD secretary is a rising star in the Democratic Party. Hillary Clinton on Friday hinted she is considering him as a possible running mate as she pursues the presidency.
