Ho-Chunk Bronson Koenig to Play in Men’s NCAA National Basketball Championship Game

INDIANAPOLIS– Ho-Chunk Bronson Koenig and his teammates, the Wisconsin Badgers will play in the NCAA Division 1 Basketball Tournament’s national championship game on Monday night.

The Wisconsin Badgers defeated the Kentucky Wildcats in the second Final Four game on Saturday 71-64 to advance to the national championship game.

Koenig, 6’4″ sophomore guard, scored 12 points, four rebounds and one steal in the semi-final game that was seen by millions on national television. He made three clutch free throws to help seal the game for the Badgers.

Koenig, a tribal citizen of the Ho-Chunk, becomes the second American Indian to ever play in a NCAA Division 1 men’s championship team. Dee Ketchum, from the Delaware Tribe, played in the 1958 championship game for the Kansas Jayhawks.

Wisconsin ended Kentucky’s undefeated season and will face Duke on Monday night at 9:18 p.m. – ET.
