ATLANTA — If you have not voted for Atlanta Dreams’ Shoni Schimmel to make the WBNA All-star Game roster, you have until 11:59:59 pm – ET on Wednesday, July 2, 2014 to do so.
Schimmel, a tribal citizen of the Confederated Tribes of Umatilla, is one of the most popular rookies in the WBNA.
She and her sister, Jude, became the pride of Indian country while playing for the Louisville Cardinals. Shoni was drafted eighth in the first round of the WBNA 2014 draft in April. Jude will be a senior at Louisville in the upcoming season.
Through Sunday’s game, she has appeared in all 15 games Atlanta has played this season. She has averaged 8.1 points per game and 4.1 assists while averaging 22.1 minutes per game.
The WNBA will announce the All-Star Game starters on July 8 during the nationally televised game on ESPN2 featuring the Los Angeles Sparks at the Minnesota Lynx (9 p.m. ET). Reserves, which are voted on by the WNBA’s head coaches, will be announced on ESPN2 on July 15, during the game between the Sparks and the Indiana Fever (8 p.m. ET).
Boost Mobile WNBA All-Star 2014 will take place at US Airways Center in Phoenix on Saturday, July 19, and will be nationally televised on ESPN, with tip-off at 3:30 p.m. ET (12:30 p.m. PT).
Fans can vote for up to 10 players per day on WNBA.com, mobile devices, and the WNBA Center Court App presented by Boost Mobile, and can share those All-Star picks with friends on Facebook and followers on Twitter, encouraging others to cast their ballots as well. Fans also can cast votes on Facebook and Twitter, voting for one player per day using the designated hashtag #WNBABALLOT.
