Gathering of Nations Powwow/Miss Indian World Advance Ticket Pre-sale Begins November 22

ALBUQUERQUE — Beginning Wednesday November 22, The Gathering of Nations limited is making advance tickets available for a very special pre-sale. Advance tickets for the powwow and the Miss Indian World Traditional Talent Presentation will become available on the Gathering of Nations web site, www.gatheringofnations.com. The 35th Annual Gathering of Nations events will take place Thursday, April 26 through Saturday, April 28, 2018 in Albuquerque N.M.  The Miss Indian World Talent Competition will take place, once again Thursday April 26, 2018 at the Albuquerque Convention Center, while the  powwow will take place Friday and Saturday (April 27 & 28)  on the new “Powwow Grounds” At Expo NM/Tingley Coliseum.

Considered the most prominent, popular and legendary Native American event in the North America, the Gathering of Nations Powwow will host tens of thousands of people and more than 750 tribes from throughout the United States, Canada, and around the world.  The three-day festival will include more than 3,000 traditional American Indian singers and dancers competing for prizes, and more than 800

Native artisans, craftsmen and traders displaying and selling their work.  In addition, contemporary indigenous and other music groups will be performing a wide variety of musical genres on Stage 49.  The Native Food Court will offer guests a large variety of food choices ranging between southwestern-style cuisine and traditional American Indian fare.

As part of the Gathering of Nations, a young Native American Woman will again be crowned Miss Indian World and represent all native and indigenous people as a cultural goodwill ambassador to all cultures.

As one of the largest and most prestigious cultural pageants, Native American and indigenous women will represent and present their tribal and traditions.   The contestants will compete in the areas of tribal knowledge through interviews, essays, public speaking and traditional presentation, and dance.

Striving to be a positive cultural, spiritual and entertaining experience that is exhilarating for all who attend, the Gathering of Nations is excited to present new and different features each year. The special feature for 2018 is the introduction of the Traditional Horse and Rider Regalia Parade. This event honors the “Horse Culture” of Native Tribes. The  “Powwow Grounds” has provided the space and room to expand the event with increased occupant capacity. As in 2017 the Teepee Village became a place to relax and enjoy the sounds and friends. The Horse and Rider Parade will also be a great new addition for 2018. At night the Powwow Grounds (Under the lights of color, will become a magical and different native experience. Everyone of all cultures and ages is invited to attend.

The Gathering of Nations opens with the Miss Indian World competition on Thursday, April 26 at 7 p.m. at the Albuquerque Convention Center in downtown Albuquerque.  The much anticipated Grand Entry, where thousands of Native American dancers simultaneously enter the coliseum dressed in colorful outfits or traditional regalia to the sounds of beating drums, begins at noon on Friday, April 27 inside Tingley Coliseum at Expo NM.  The Grand Entry will be repeated Friday evening at 7 p.m. and on Saturday, at 12 p.m. (noon) and 6 p.m.  The new Miss Indian World will be crowned on Saturday evening, at the powwow after the Grand Entry.

General admission tickets as well as limited VIP seating are available on line at the Gathering of Nations web Site, www.gatheringofnations.com  beginning Wednesday November 22, 2017. In addition to tickets available on line, Also beginning November 22, Camping On the Pow Wow Grounds reservations, Miss Indian World Contestant Application, Vendor Application for the Indian Traders market, application & info to perform on Stage 49 and official merchandise are available on the Gathering of Nations website, www.gatheringofnations.com . Tickets are always available at the door and gates during the events.  General parking is available at Expo New Mexico.  General parking and ticket purchase at Expo should enter Gate 8 on Louisiana Boulevard.
