Funeral Service Set for Standing Rock Member Who Died Because Lack of Propane

FORT YATES, NORTH DAKOTA — Debra Sylvia Doggskin-Dubios, 58, who tragically died in her mobile home that was out of propane on the Standing Rock Indian Reservation, will be laid to rest on Tuesday, February 11, 2014.

Doggskin-Dubios’ tragic death has made national news after her body was discovered in her home that was reportedly one degree below zero inside her mobile home – the same temperature that as outside.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, February, 11, 2014, at Word of God Ministry, Fort Yates with Rev. Marlon Hunte officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in Word of God Cemetery, Fort Yates.

She was born October 20, 1955, at Cannon Ball, to Thomas and Seraphine (Hunte) Doggskin. She was raised and educated in Cannon Ball and Solen, and graduated from Solen High School in 1973.

Doggskin-Dubios worked for Headstart and Nutrition for the Elderly as a cook. She was a very kind-hearted, caring, and thoughtful person who helped out those I need. She enjoyed cleaning houses for people who needed her and was willing to help others as well. She had a strong belief in the Lord and she was “a best aunt” to most of her nieces and nephews.

She will be greatly missed by all who came across her throughout life.

Doggskin-Dubios is survived by her mother, Seraphine Doggskin, Fort Yates, three children, Jefferey Wolfnecklace, Chad Yellowlodge, and Leslie Doggskin (Kevin Maquina), Minot; three sisters, Ardis Doggskin and, Fort Yates, Robyn (Steve) Miller, Inez Morris, Bismarck, and Karen Doggskin, Fort Yates; three brothers, Butch (Melody) Wolf Necklace, Fort Yates, Jarvis Wolf Necklace, Fort Yates, Ted Wolf Necklace, Fargo; one uncle, Delano Wolf Necklace, Solen; grandchildren, Jeffery Wolf Necklace Jr., Dace Walking Elk, Jontave Edwards, and Taylynn Edwards; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by preceded in death by her father, Thomas Doggskin Sr., and four brothers, Thomas Doggskin Jr., Terry Doggskin, Jackson Doggskin, and Dean Doggskin, her daughter, January Yellow Lodge; one nephew, Jarvis Doggskin Jr., and niece, Kimberly Rose Doggskin; grandparents, Louis and Rose Doggskin, and Carrie and William Hunte, and Williamette Standing Crow.
