PYRAMID LAKE PAIUTE TRIBE’S RESERVATION— Tribal officials have ordered the Sutcliffe community on the Pyramid Lake Paiute Tribe’s reservation in Nevada to evacuate as a fire is moving in the pathway of the community.

NOTE: Residents are being asked to turn off their propane tanks.

The fire, known as the Tule Fire, has been burning since Thursday and has already burned over 10,000 acres. Fire crews are in place and tankers have been ordered to protect structures in the area.

Tribal families and friends are encouraged to seek shelter at the gymnasium in Nixon, Nevada.

The Tule Fire is one of five fires burning in Nevada currently. It is reportedly the biggest and has caused the most damage.

The Pyramid Lake Paiute Tribe’s reservation is located 35 miles northeast of Reno, Nevada and occupies soem 475,000 acres or 742.2 square miles.
