MICHAEL, NORTH DAKOTA — Bill Smallwood, (Crow/Apsaalooke Nation), will be among the King of Cage event’s card tonight at the Spirit Lake Casino& Resortin St. Michael, North Dakota for an epic evening of Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) action entitled “Fighting Spirit.”

Smallwood, 33, who will fight against Tony Cantrell,  told Native News Online he will be fighting for more than to be on television.

“I work with kids, charities, non-profits, schools, rehabs and various other things – not to just be a televised professional athlete, but I fight to be equally a human being and to heal a lot of travesties that bring down our Native American people,” commented Smallwood.

A former wrestler, who has won numerous national titles, Smallwood became a mixed martial arts contender after working in finance and marketing. A friend told him with his background in wrestling, he should become a mixed martial arts fighter.

In addition to his marketing and fighter careers, Smallwood is participates in sun dances and other ceremonies.
