ODANAH, WISCONSIN –  A Community Unity Walk will take place on Saturday, December 2, 2017, at 11:48 a.m. to honor Jason Pero, the 14-year-old teen and a tribal citizen of the Bad River Band of Lake Superior Tribe of Chippewa, who was killed on November 8, 2017 by an Ashland County sherriff’s deputy.

All interested individuals will gather together to share Jason’s message. We would like to show who he really was. He was a loving, caring, humorous, strong, young & courageous boy.
He was knowledgeable of his culture and was always willing to share. We do not want people making him into someone he really wasn’t. By walking together we hope people will see his true colors.
The walk will start at Bad River Community center and end at the Ashland Courthouse. Directly following the walk there will be a feast at the Bad River Community Center in Odanah.
