Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe to Partner with Aviation Education Program at South Dakota State University

EAGLE BUTTE, SOUTH DAKOTA – The Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe is pleased to announce the implementation of the CRST Aviation Education & Career Program in partnership with the Aviation Education Program at South Dakota State University. On May 10th and 11th, SDSU Aviation Program instructors will make a special visit to the students of the Cheyenne Eagle Butte Schools to familiarize participating youth with their degree programs. Faculty will bring aircraft, flight simulators and flight instructors to give students a hands-on experience and introduce them to the field of aviation.

The day will begin at 9:00 a.m. with an assembly for students, parents, tribal leaders and community members. Also scheduled to attend are Mr. Jesse Ewing, Constituent Representative from US Senator John Thune’s office; Ms. Kim Olson, Director for Central South Dakota from US Senator Mike Rounds office and Ms. Katherine Campbell, Post-Secondary Program Analyst, Bureau of Indian Education, US Department of Interior. Special guest Dr. Jill Thorngren, Dean of the College of Education and Human Sciences at SDSU will be present, as well.
