Cherokee Nation Secretary of State Chuck Hoskins

BARTLESVILLE, Okla. — Cherokee Nation Secretary of State Chuck Hoskin Jr. is being recognized as the honorary chairman of the 31st Oklahoma Indian Summer festival slated for September 14-15 in Bartlesville, Oklahoma.
Cherokee Nation is a sponsor of the cultural exchange featuring nightly powwows and a youth powwow with competitive and non-competitive dancing, a juried art market for Native and western artists, a youth art show for Green Country students, children’s programs and other festivities.
“We are honored to have Secretary Hoskin as our honorary chair,” said Bonnie Jo Griffith, chair of the OIS board. “His devotion to not only the Cherokee Nation but Indian Country as a whole makes him the perfect person to represent OIS. We certainly look forward to his presence.”
A public reception in honor of Hoskin will also be held at 5 p.m. Friday, Sept. 14, at the Bartlesville Community Center.
“It means a great deal to me to be chosen as the honorary chair of the 31st annual Oklahoma Indian Summer festival in Bartlesville,” Hoskin said. “It’s vital to support festivals that highlight genuine Native culture, art and activities. The Oklahoma Indian Summer festival provides the public with a wonderful opportunity to have those experiences,and I’m looking forward to participating in this year’s events.”
