Cherokee Nation officials along with Cherokee Nation Businesses officials and local dignitaries break ground on a new Cherokee Casino in South Coffeyville.
100 new jobs expected in Nowata County
SOUTH COFFEYVILLE, OKLAHOMA – Cherokee Nation Entertainment is bringing its signature brand of dining, entertainment, gaming and world-class guest service to South Coffeyville, Oklahoma, in Nowata County, just south of the Kansas state line. The company broke ground today to make way for the newest Cherokee Casino.
The nearly $10 million development will take about six months to construct and bring 100 new jobs to the region.
“One hundred jobs is huge for this area,” said Cherokee Nation Principal Chief Bill John Baker. “By taking these paychecks home to their families, these future employees will affect the lives of countless people in the area. The hope is to fill these good, well-paying jobs with Cherokee citizens and bring much-needed economic development to this part of the Cherokee Nation.”
The new 17,000-square-foot property will offer 300 electronic games. Along with gaming options, guests can enjoy a cocktail, lunch or dinner at the dining venue.

Cherokee Nation leaped into the entertainment industry in 1990 and today employs more than 3,700 people in the entertainment and hospitality division alone.
The company currently operates Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Tulsa, seven Cherokee Casinos, not including the South Coffeyville location, a horse racing track, three hotels, three golf courses and other retail operations.
