25th Annual CMU “Celebrating Life” Powwow will attrack thousands

MT. PLEASANT, MICHIGAN — Central Michigan University will celebrate Native American culture at the 25th Annual Powwow presented by CMUs Native American Programs. The theme of this year’s powwow is “Celebrating Life.”

The powwow will be held on Saturday, March 22 and Sunday, March 23, at Central Michigan University Event Center – McGurik Arena, located at 360 East Broomfiled Road, Mt. Pleasant, Michigan.

The powwow will feature American Indian dancing and dancing. Over twenty Indian vendors will sell their beadwork, dream catchers, and other Indian artwork. American Indian food, such as Indian tacos and frybread, will be available.

Grand Entry times are at 1:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. Saturday and noon on Sunday. George Martin (Ojibwe) will serve as the head veteran.

The powwow is open to the public. Doors open at 11:00 a.m. both days.

Admission is:

Adults             $7
Elders             $5
Youth              $5

Central Michigan University students and Saginaw Chippewa tribal members are free with ID. Children under four-years-old are free.
