PINE RIDGE INDIAN RESERVATION– Democratic presidential candidate, U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders (Vermont-D) will attend a community meeting on Thursday, May 12, 2016.
The community meeting will take place in the new gym at the Pine Ridge School, located at 101 Thorp Circle, Pine Ridge, South Dakota.
Doors open at 8:45 a.m. – MDT. This event if free and open to the public. Admission is first come, first served.
For security reasons, please do not bring bags and limit what you bring to small, personal items like keys and cell phones. No outside food or beverages are allowed in the facility through the security checkpoints. Weapons, sharp objects, chairs, and signs or banners will not be allowed through security. Public transit is available via Oglala Sioux Transit (OST).
Senator Sanders will be in South Dakota campaigning in his quest for the Democratic presidential nomination against former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. The Democratic presidential primary is June 7, 2016. There are 36 delegates at stake in the winner-take-all contest.
During the 2016 presidential primary campaign, Senator Sanders has made a concerted effort to meet with American Indian leaders at various regions of the country.
