SAWMILL, Ariz. -The Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA) and the Navajo Nation are investigating the cause of a forest fire that has already destroyed an estimated 350 acres in the Sawmill Chapter.
The fire, which began on the south side of Route 7, has crossed to the north side. Some evacuations have occurred and the BIA’s Forestry unit has set up an incident command station. All available Navajo Nation resources are on the scene. Additional resources from surrounding areas are being sent to the location.
For safety concerns, the public is encouraged to stay away from the fire and allow for emergency personnel access.
